Oddboards is a small site for two-player board games. This page says exactly what it stores and why. Last updated 26 August 2026.

You can play without an account

Playing the computer needs nothing at all. Playing a friend through an invite link creates a guest session — an anonymous account with a generated name like Guest 4A2B. It has no email attached and we never ask for one.

If you sign in

Signing in uses Google or GitHub. We never see your password. From them we receive your email address and display name, and we store:

• a handle, generated from your username or email local part
• your display name
• the date you signed up

Your email is held by our authentication provider (Supabase) and is not shown on the site or given to anyone.

Games

For each match we store the two players, the moves, the result, and the rating change. Finished games are public — they appear on player pages and feed the leaderboard.

Chat messages inside a match are not public. They are readable only by the two people in that game.

What is kept in your browser

• your sign-in session, if you signed in
• a display name, if you set one while signed out
• your local win/loss count for games against the computer
• a random id used only to count how many people are online

Clearing your browser data removes all of it. The online-count id is a random number and is not linked to your account.

Analytics

There are none. No Google Analytics, no tracking pixels, no fingerprinting. The only number the site collects is a count of how many people are currently on it.

Advertising

This site may show a small advert to help pay for its domain and hosting. Adverts are served by A-ADS inside an isolated frame.

A-ADS sets no cookies, runs no JavaScript on this site, and does not profile you. Adverts are chosen by the page they sit on, not by anything about you. That is why you are not asked to consent to advertising cookies here — there are none to consent to.

If this ever changes to a network that does track people, this page will say so before it happens, and you will be asked first where the law requires it.

Where it is stored

The site is served by GitHub Pages. Accounts, games and ratings live in a Supabase project. Both may process data outside your country.

Deleting your data

Ask and your account, ratings and chat messages will be deleted. Finished games are part of other players' records, so those are anonymised rather than removed — your name is detached from them.

Children

Oddboards is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top changes with it.
